Rosacea is a skin condition. It is caused by a dysfunction in the nervous system that regulates facial blood vessels, leading to excessive blood flow to the face. This results in erythema, persistent redness, burning sensations, dryness and peeling, abnormal oiliness, swelling, or the development of small pimples and acne.
Summer is here!! When treating rosacea, you should simultaneously avoid hot environments, strong winds, alcohol, and caffeinated beverages. Pay attention to emotional control, emphasize sun protection, reduce the intake of spicy foods, and choose natural skincare products.
-
Carry a hat / umbrella
Rosacea-prone skin is most sensitive to hot and stuffy environments. You need to protect your face from sun exposure as much as possible. Carry an umbrella or a wide-brimmed hat (ideally with some SPF protection) to keep your face shaded from the sun.
-
Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30
It is important for rosacea patients to apply sunscreen every day, not just in summer; in fact, it is necessary year-round. However, on days when UV rays are particularly strong during the summer, you must increase protection and reapply every two hours. It is recommended to use an all-physical sunscreen that is free from alcohol, chemical filters, and other irritating substances. If you are prone to sweating or plan on swimming, you may apply it more frequently.

-
Stay hydrated
Maintaining hydration is important for managing rosacea. Dehydration can indirectly cause the skin's barrier function to decline, which can lead to unnecessary inflammation. Staying hydrated is vital, so replenish moisture from the inside out.

Carry facial cooling aids
Rosacea-prone skin, which fears heat and stuffiness, needs to stay cool even in the shade to protect the skin. You can carry a portable handheld fan. Using an effective hydrosol, such as Damask Rose Hydrosol or Roman Chamomile Hydrosol, and misting it onto your face when you feel hot can help with cooling.
